"Program Taklimat Kejuruteraan Eko Bersama Pelajar Sekolah Anjuran Eastern & Oriental Berhad"
An eco-engineering briefing program was organized and sponsored by Eastern and Oriental Berhad at Straits Quay, Penang, on the 19th of October 2016. The program was carried out at E&O Visitor Centre at the Lighthouse as part of the Think Green community education initiative. The program was attended by 30 students and 3 teachers from SMK Tanjung Bunga. The briefing was prepared and presented by Dr. Chee Su Yin and her team from the Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia. The briefing titled "Can blue be green?" explained how coastal defense structures could provide artificial habitat for intertidal organisms whilst maintaining its primary function of mitigating coastal erosion and protecting marine infrastructure from wave and current action. A small exhibition consisting of eco-engineering products, posters and replicas of field experiments was also set up for the students to better understand the concepts of eco-engineering.
